Cabrini First Hill Apts. Named Senior Project of the Year
October 4, 2006 - Cabrini First Hill Apartments, a 50-unit affordable housing development in Seattle, was selected Senior Project of the Year in Multifamily Executive magazine's 2006 Awards competition.
Developed by the Low Income Housing Institute and the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the project received low-income housing tax credit equity investments from the Washington Mutual Affordable Housing Fund, and the multi-investor, Enterprise Housing Partners XIII fund.
"We are very pleased with the end result of this project; a spectacular looking building that provides housing for those most in need," said Sharon Lee, executive director of LIHI.
Cabrini First Hill is considered a national model for housing developers nationwide, providing affordable homes and an array of services for residents 62 and older in a smoke-free building. Cabrini also incorporates numerous green building features, 7,000 square feet of commercial space and an underground parking garage.
As the winning project for senior multifamily housing, Cabrini First Hill was judged alongside market-rate housing developments and stood out thanks to a winning combination of affordability and green building design focused on energy conservation.
"When you have a project like Cabrini that fills a real need without looking like traditional affordable housing, then you've added a whole new dynamic to housing solutions," said Monika Elgert, vice president of Northwest Acquisitions, Enterprise Community Investment.
Winners of the 2006 Multifamily Executive Awards will be announced Oct. 5 at the Multifamily Executive Conference in Las Vegas. |
