GEDCO and Enterprise Homes to Host Grand Opening of Ednor Apartments II
Baltimore, MD — Development at Stadium Place continues with the upcoming grand opening of Ednor Apartments II. Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation (GEDCO) and Enterprise Homes, Inc. will host a special ceremony for the newest building at Stadium Place, on October 17 at 2:30 p.m. Mayor Sheila Dixon and community leaders are expected to attend.
Stadium Place is a senior community designed to be both market-rate and affordable housing. Built on the site of the former Memorial Stadium on 33rd Street, Stadium Place was selected as "Best Development Project" in Baltimore by the Baltimore City Paper in 2006.
In addition to apartments, the community features a state-of-the-art YMCA of Central Maryland recreational facility and ThanksGiving Place, a open-space, park-like setting - and one of only two sites in the country - for giving thanks and expressing gratitude.
"When designing the redevelopment of such a cultural icon to the Baltimore community, we wanted to serve the greater good of the City's citizens. Affordable housing for our seniors was the top priority. However, we also wanted to offer a spiritual space for the public that welcomes all cultures and embraces all faiths. We are very blessed by having only one of two spaces in the entire country that accomplishes this goal," said Rev. Jack Sharp, President of Stadium Place.
