Enterprise Earns Client of the Year Award from American Institute of Architects
October 30, 2007 - Enterprise recently received the 2008 President’s Award for Client of the Year from the Baltimore chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). This award recognized Enterprise’s commitment to sustainable design and development through the achievements of the Green Communities® initiative, and the incorporation of green development into our New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) portfolio.
“Enterprise knows it is imperative to fully extend our environmental commitment across everything we do in order to bring the many real benefits of green development to low-income communities,” said Dana Bourland, senior director for Green Communities, who attended the AIA event on October 24, 2008, to accept the award on behalf of Enterprise. “We are honored to be recognized by the AIA as a leader in the development of real, replicable solutions through environmentally responsible development.”
Several developments in Enterprise’s NMTC portfolio incorporate green features and are being built to measure against current nationally recognized green building standards, including the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ and the Green Communities Criteria for affordable housing. In addition, some projects include transit-oriented development or brownfield reclamation.
The New Markets Tax Credit program provides critical tax credit financing for low-income community revitalization for commercial and mixed-use developments in urban centers and rural communities. Enterprise’s NMTC investments have created 5.8 million square feet of new or rehabilitated real estate totaling more than $3 billion in development costs, 3,500 housing units, and more than 10,000 permanent jobs in local communities. |
